Brian Laundrie has a notable digital footprint online. His Instagram account describes him as a “nature enthusiast”. He writes on his biography “Take a hike everyday, Bug bites are better than being brainwashed by the media”. His uploaded pictures also show him posing with fiancee Gabby Petito and showing off art works he apparently created, but all of these paint a very different picture than the current situation. Gabby is dead by homicide while Brian is no where to be found! In a recently released 911 call Fox News reports hearing a witness claiming to see Brian hitting Gabby during a squabble, and later in police custody while speaking with officers camera videos Gabby in tears.
Eyebrows were further raised on the 1st of September 2021 when Brian Laundrie returned home with Gabby Petito’s van but without his fiancee. However barely a week later, Fox News reports, “Brian and his parent appeared to be packing up the family camper” with neighbors confirming seeing them load up their camper and assumed they were going for a family trip though no one knew where they were going. It however became noteworthy that Gaby was missing as soon as the rest of the story came out.
The manhunt for the missing Gabby Petito’s fiance however took another turn as soon as the cases of abuse became public knowledge. He’s the only person of interest in Gabby’s disappearance and the police has been looking for him since 17th of September. Authorities focused most of their attention on the vast nature preserve near his house after his family confirmed he went there to hike and never returned, with reports of sightings skyrocketing as the case garnered more and more attention nationwide. Even with the immense amount of attention on this case there still hasn’t been a sign of him begging the question of how he could possibly survive on his own in the swamps of Florida for over a month.
Leading psychologists on the case believe there could be some clues in Laundrie’s behavior that might give us a glimpse. Almost as soon as Gabby was reported missing Brian Laundrie simply disappeared, not to be heard from again. Experts are therefore asking if this is someone who could take their own life or someone who would just take off and disappear given the circumstances.
According to the renowned Florida psychologist Dr. James Huysman, it is improper to diagnose Brian Laundrie from afar, but then he says the report and videos shows signs of narcissism that led to the abuse of relationship with Gabby which is now on display for the world to see. He further states that in terms of this disorder, it’s clear how a person like that might react to the pressure that investigators are putting on him, “they are very likely to hide, to run away, to think they could get away with it”. Authorities have now spent weeks searching a wildlife refuge near the Laundrie family home in North Port, looking for him, evidence of him or both.
In a recent twist of events on the case, the FBI and the North Port police department and other search partners who have been searching for the missing Brian Laundrie in and around Carlton Reserve, confirmed uncovering what appeared to be human remains and other personal items including a bag pack and a notebook belonging to Laundrie. The items were found in an area which until recently had been “under water”. The evidence response team is on scene using all available forensic resources to process the area. They will likely remain on scene for several days processing as much data and information as possible, and while the public may have load of questions for them, the FBI spokesperson confirmed that the FBI does not have all the answers yet.
